If you or your children haven't spent much time in front of a camera before, it can be a little intimidating! Posing isn't something that comes naturally to anyone, but can definitely be learned and directed.
Because I'm a lifestyle photographer, I don't stress too much about posing my clients. Especially when it comes to children, I really just like to let them spend most of our time together exploring!
However, some posing and prompting is usually still required. I operate with suggestions rather than demands. I will NEVER tell your children "SMILE!!" Because guess what that results in? Fake smiles 😬 One of the most simple suggestions I like to use instead when they are being photographed by themselves is "look at mom!" or "look at dad!" Usually, making eye contact with someone they love is enough to get a genuine smile out of them. (See the photo below as an example of when I used this). Plus, when you look at that picture, it is a reminder of that moment you shared together:)
While I don't want to go into too much detail about how I pose and prompt you and your littles, rest assured that I keep things very go-with-the-flow. When everyone is relaxed, you can see it in your photos!
Don't worry about a thing, during our session I will take the lead!
